And we couldn’t be happier!

On May 26, 2020, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health gave the green light for physiotherapists to gradually and carefully begin providing all services, including non-essential care. This is not something we take lightly.  Our staff and client safety is of utmost importance to us and we wanted to make sure we reopened responsibly.

Like for many of you, the past 10 weeks has been a complete whirlwind.  We made a sudden shift to offer online services in order to maintain momentum with many of our clients’ treatment plans.   However, in the background, we had also been planning what our practice would look like when we reopened.

During this time we have been forced to change our model of service delivery and we are not going back to the same clinic we had 2 months ago.  We are slowly and cautiously reopening our practice to accommodate working in an environment that will be our new normal for the foreseeable future.

What has not changed is our commitment to our clients, ensuring that we continue to offer the most comprehensive care possible, but in the safest, and most effective way possible as well.

What we are doing to keep you and our staff safe

From the moment you book your appointment to when you leave our clinic, and everything behind the scenes, we are making sure that we take every precaution to keep you and our staff safe.  This includes:

  • Two-point Covid-19 screening including a self-screen before your appointment and again when you arrive for your appointment
  • Covid-19 screening for all staff prior to their shifts
  • Removal of waiting room to limit contact points
  • Staggering of clients to ensure that clients do not cross-paths
  • Limiting the number of clients and therapists in the office at any given time
  • Mask wearing for clients and personal protective equipment for all therapists including: gloves, medical face masks, and face shields
  • Installation of sneeze guards at the front desk and psychotherapy room
  • Hand sanitizing station when you enter and within every treatment room
  • Enhanced disinfection of treatment rooms and bathroom after every use
  • Contactless payments and e-mailed receipts
  • Proactive contact tracing

Our new processes for in-person visits

While the process may look different, we remain committed to offer easy, seamless appointments.  And while your therapist may look different, we remain the same friendly therapists you have gotten to know!

Before your appointment:

  • At home, complete your online Covid-19 Screening Questionnaire.  This will be sent to your e-mail 4 hours before your appointment.
  • Ensure that you have filled in our Credit Card Authorization Form.  We will not bill your credit card until you have started your visit.
  • Use the bathroom at home (of course our clinic bathroom remains  to available should you need it during your visit)
  • Bring a face mask (this can be a cloth or a disposable mask).
  • Plan to come straight to the clinic without any additional stops

When you come in for your visit:

  • Come by yourself, unless a support person or guardian is needed
  • Call the clinic to let the administrative assistant know you have arrived
  • Answer additional screening questions
  • Leave your personal belongings in the car
  • Put on your mask.  If you do not have a mask or forgot it, you can purchase one from the clinic for a small fee
  • Come into the clinic when the administrative assistant indicates it is safe
  • When you enter, sanitize your hands
  • Proceed directly to the indicated treatment room
  • If you are undressing for your appointment, place your clothes in the plastic bin
  • Avoid touching any additional surfaces

After your appointment:

  • Proceed to the front desk
  • The administrative assistant will confirm that your payment has been processed and that your receipt has been e-mailed to you
  • Re-book any needed appointments (either virtual or in-person appointments)
  • Dispose of your face mask, sanitize your hands, and exit the clinic
  • Proceed directly home and avoid making any stops along the way

“I am not ready to come back in”

We are aware that many clients will not feel ready to come back into the clinic or may not be appropriate candidates to come back into the clinic.  We do not want these reservations to stop you from seeking the help that you need.

Luckily, we live in an age where effective treatment can be delivered virtually, through online video calls, similar to FaceTime.  As such, we continue to offer virtual, telehealth appointments for Physiotherapy and Psychotherapy through our secure, online platform.

If you are unsure, or for longer appointments such as initial assessments, we recommend starting with an online session to help the practitioner better understand where you are, and devise a plan of care from there.  Your practitioner may actually indicate that an an online session would be more beneficial for your specific condition rather than coming into the clinic in-person, or may recommend a mix of both virtual and in-person sessions.
